Kumuyi’s son suspended over his bride's wedding dress: what do you think?

By now most of you must have heard about what's going on at the Deeper Christian Life Ministry but just in case you haven't heard/read any of it, let me summarize it.
The second son of the General-Superintendent of Deeper Life Pastor William Kumuyi got married on June 15th in Jamaica to a lady named Love Odih. A day later, photos from the wedding flooded the internet - and that was when trouble started.
The bride was accused of breaking the church's conservative dressing rules by wearing make-up, a fitted wedding dress, with see-through sleeves. (bride and groom pictured above. The photo on the right is the appropriate way to dress in the church).
Now, John and Love Kumuyi have been suspended by the leadership of the church for this despite the fact that the couple tendered an apology letter to the church. Continue...

The couple said:

“We unreservedly and wholeheartedly state that we did not intend that our acts or omissions will, in any way, undermine the great works that God has done through the Deeper Christian Life Ministry worldwide and  more especially, through our Father in the Lord, the General Superintendent. We also use this medium to profusely and sincerely apologise to the General Superintendent for the embarrassment and heartaches our actions have caused him, more so that he had earlier declined to be at the events.”
But the church wasn't having any of that (Here's where you ask 'what would Jesus do?) they still went ahead and suspended the couple from carrying out any activity in the church - an instruction that came from the GS himself, Pastor William Kumuyi. The church said:
“The church, Deeper Life, remains committed to the biblical practice and standard of almost 40 years Christian dressing and still remains and does not compromise on biblical Christian dressing. Hence, deviation warrants the displeasure and frown of God and the leadership of the church. John and Love are now under discipline"
My problem with this is - You preach forgiveness but can't practice it! What do you guys think?

15M Is Not Too Much For A Car, I Need To Enjoy My Money - Wizkid

This is for all the haters that are criticizing the star boy Wizkid for buying another N25m Porsche car, this is what the young lad has to say:

"I needed to get another one because after the accident, I didn't have a car and I have to move around. I started taking cabs before I decided to buy this new car to move around. It is needed for work. And I don't think there's anything wrong in splashing millions on a car. If someone works hard and decides to spend on something that he thinks is good for him, why not? In fact, I don't think there's need to justify whether its is wrong or not. I work hard and I will enjoy my money"

Four Reasons Why Not to Date a Married Man

The reasons to not get involved with a married man are plenty – heartbreaks, being called the ‘other woman’ so on and so forth. Here are some sound reasons as to why you shouldn’t be dating a married man.

1. Wrong

No matter how much you try to prove yourself right — there are no justifications when it comes to dating a married person. It is considered to be ‘ethically wrong’ and could hamper your life in more ways than one.

2. Second best

When you get involved with a married man, no matter how much he claims you to be his true love, at the end of the day, his wife and family (kids) will be his first priority. Remember that he will come up with a host of excuses to cover up for cheating on his family – but when it comes to choosing between his family and you, it will always be his family.

3. Lies

Another reason to not get involved with a married man is lies. Men who have a wife and children at home, will lie to you endlessly for not being able to meet up with you, or not being able to accompany you for shopping or a movie.

4. Would you like it?

Just for a second, wait and think. Had you found out that your husband is cheating not only on you but your kids as well – would you approve of it? Let it pass by? Cheating in any form is disgraceful. More than that, you can never guarantee that he will leave his wife and kids and accept you legally.

Governor Amaechi Escapes Death As Suspicious Vehicle Rams Into His Convoy

The Rivers State Governor Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi yesterday miraculously escaped unhurt as a suspicious vehicle rammed into his convoy along Igwuruta road on the Governor’s way to the Port Harcourt International Airport.

According to eyewitness account, the accident was caused by the intrusion of a Toyota Avensis with registration number AAA 767 AQ that rammed into the Governor’s convoy from the opposite side of the dual carriageway, just after the C4I Security Post along the Port Harcourt International Airport Road.

Fortunately no life was lost and the driver of the vehicle was apprehended and handed over to the police.

Rivers State since the last 3 months have been in the news as political bigwigs in the state outwit themselves in a bid to wrest political power and control the political landscape of the oil rich state. Events reached their climax recently when the Rivers State Police Commissioner, Joseph Mbu openly lambasted the Governor whom he described as a Dictator.

The governor earlier in the day was reported to have demanded the redeployment of the Commissioner of Police whom many believe has pitched tent with Abuja-based politicians who are the governor’s political adversaries. The Police high command, in the meantime has however denied knowledge of any affray between Governor Amaechi and the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mbu.

Failure to declare money above $10,000 punishable – Central Bank

Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, weekend, cleared the wrong notion that any person travelling outside or coming into the country cannot carry above $10,000, saying it was a misinterpretation and misapplication of the provision of the Money Laundering (Prohibition ) Act 2011.

CBN, in a statement to all banks and other financial institutions, said that any person travelling or coming into the country can carry above $US 10,000, provided such amount was declared.

He said that only those who made false declarations or fail to make such declarations are to be prosecuted.

In a statement dated June 26, 2013, Acting Director, Financial Policy and Regulation Department of the CBN, Mr. Y. Duniya, said: “Section 2(3) of the MLPA, 2011 (as amended) provides that transportation of cash or negotiable instruments in excess of US$10,000 or its equivalent by individuals in or out of the country shall be declared to the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS.

“Section 2(5) provides that any person who falsely declares or fails to make a declaration to the NCS pursuant to section 12 of the Foreign Exchange (Monitoring and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, Cap. F34, LFN, 2004 is guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to forfeit the undeclared funds or negotiable instrument or to imprisonment of not less than two (2) years or to both.

“The Act under reference further requires the NCS to forward such declarations made to both the CBN and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

“The import of the above provisions is that it is mandatory for only the holders of cash or negotiable instruments in excess of US$10,000 to declare such funds or their equivalent to the NCS.

“It is the false declaration or failure to make such declaration to the NCS that attracts prosecution and subsequent sanction of forfeiture of the undeclared funds or instruments upon conviction.

“To this end, the provisions in question do not imply in any manner that genuinely-owned or obtained funds or negotiable instruments in excess of US$10,000 or its equivalent cannot be brought into Nigeria or taken outside the country.”

Update on Okiki, the child born without 50% of her skull

On May 13, 2010, a baby girl; Okiki(Jesu) was born to the Olawuyi’s in Ibadan, oyo state, Nigeria, with a rare medical condition subsequently diagnosed as ‘Congenital Cranial Deficiency’. In other words, she was delivered with at least 50% of her skull unformed. For the Olawuyi’s, that day marked the beginning of a 3year struggle against stigmatization, discrimination & near hopelessness.

After rejections from several hospitals around the world, renowned neurosurgeon at the Johns Hopkins Medical International hospital, Baltimore, Maryland; Dr. Ben Carson agreed to lead a team of surgeons in performing a skull reconstruction surgery on 3 year old Okiki. After a review of her case history, the tentative cost of Okiki’s surgery was put at US$234,000 (Two hundred and thirty four thousand United States dollars). On receiving this estimate, GIPLC reached out to her local network of donors and phenomenally raised this sum of money in approximately 72hours.

3 year old Okiki and her parents under stewardship of Coordinator and Project Director of GIPLC journeyed to the US on May 4th 2013 to undergo her skull reconstruction surgery which was scheduled for the 22nd of May 2013 at the Johns Hopkins Medical International. However, complications have occurred following her over 14 hour’s initial surgery, as a result of inconsistencies in her medical history, in addition to the fact that it was a maiden attempt in paediatric neurosurgery. This has led to a further accumulation of medical bills totalling over US$500,000 (Five hundred thousand United States dollars), a figure that increases with each passing day Okiki spends at Johns Hopkins.
Prior to the complications which have arisen, what made a determination of the full cost of Okiki’s surgery difficult is that in modern times, it is an extremely rare (perhaps singular) medical condition with no precedence to draw indicators from. This latter fact also means that it is equally difficult to tell what other medical complications may arise; just like the fluids that were retained in her cranial cavity has posed an unforeseen challenge and may have led to a fatal infection.
As Okiki may not be released from hospital until all outstanding bills have been paid on one hand, and as we and her parents are desirous of her condition being fully remedied before she does leave the hospital on the other, we would like to appeal to the global public to support our cause in ensuring that Okiki gets a full chance at life.
Your donations go directly to Okiki’s account with Johns Hopkins Medical International.
We thank you for your generosity.

NOTE; The over 7 billion people that inhabit the earth, okiki is the first known patient to undergo such a treatment and still be alive, for her condition, on that scale.

The Global Initiative for Peace Love & Care (GIPLC) is a charitable organisation based in Abuja, Nigeria that works with orphans & vulnerable children aged 0-9 years. Over the last 7yrs, GIPLC in partnership with a broad network of supporters has raised the equivalent of US$2M through local fundraising initiatives toward increasing access to education, nutrition, health, water, hygiene/sanitation for over 4000 Nigerian children.

200 Nigerian Girls Are Trafficked To Russia Monthly – Ambassador

Nigeria’s ambassador to Russia has said that no fewer than 200 Nigerians girls are trafficked every month into Moscow.

Ambassador Asam Asam, who disclosed this in an interview in Berlin, said that the crime had declined in Western Europe following strict laws on illegal migration and joint efforts by the Nigerian government.

However, attention had shifted to Eastern Europe as the new destination for the trade.

“The major consular challenge we face in Moscow is the influx of trafficked persons from Nigeria. Not less than 200 girls are trafficked every month, and we have so many of them exposed to danger,” the ambassador revealed.

“Some are thrown out of the window and treated harshly. There must be a way of stopping these racketeering , these girls are not tourists, students or government officials yet they are given visas from the Russian embassy in Abuja.”

So far we have deported over 240 girls since 2012, you will be shocked, at the extend of resistance from the girls, we tell them Russia is not a destination for prostitutes yet they still come.”

According to him, the mission tries to curb the menace by arranging deportation for those caught, but the challenges are enormous.

“For instance a well known Russian human trafficker who has been in the trade for about 20 years was caught in Nigeria,’’ Asam said.

“The National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons (NAPTIP) was on the verge of releasing her before I filed a protest from Moscow to the Comptroller General of Immigration.”

The ambassador said even some of the parents of those trafficked encourage their children

“I spoke to the mother of one of the girls and she said her daughter should remain in Moscow and try to survive the ordeal; this is very sad indeed coming from one’s parent.’’

He tasked the media on sensitising the public on the dangers of trafficking in Russia, saying: “This East European nation has become a new destination for them, and believe me it is a very big crime here.’’

Asam, however, said that other Nigerians who reside in that country were students and professionals in various fields of endeavour.

Rihanna Strikes Fan With Microphone At A Concert

This Rihanna is seriously a no-nonsense star and as Nigerians will say "she no send at all"

The singer was performing "We Found Love" at a concert in the UK,and came down from the stage to reach out to her fans, when one overzealous fan refused to let go of her arm. The video of the incident that surfaced online shows Rihanna attempting to move along but getting pulled back by the fan's grip. In turn, Rihanna immediately smacked the fan over the head with the microphone before moving on to continue her set as if nothing happened.

Rihanna was her usual unapologetic self following the occurrence, saying on Twitter that her actions were intentional. "Purpose! That b— won't let me go," she wrote in response to a user who called it an "accident."

Rihanna is no stranger to obsessive fans. When she isn't being clung to at concerts, she's being stalked by crazies. A man was recently arrested on the roof of Rihanna's Pacific Palisades home, and in February a separate man pleaded guilty to breaking in to the singer's home and sleeping in one of her beds.

25 year old former US marine and Afghan war veteran Alex Minsky has turned his tragedy into triumph. He lost his right leg in an explosion in 2009 after driving over an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan when he was just 21.

After losing his leg, he fell into depression and heavy drinking but with the help of his family, he found himself again and made some changes in his life. He also started working out regularly at a gym and that was where he was discovered by model scouts. Alex is now a sought after fitness and underwear model. "I just want people from nearby and far away to be inspired to try harder and never give up on themselves" Alex said in a recent interview. "I didn't set out to be an underwear model. I was just taking care of myself and working out. It just so happens that I look good in underwear. "

Alex donates a percentage of his modeling earnings to the Wounded Warriors project. #BeInspired!

Popular Rapper, Vector Arrested and Detained By His Record Label

One of Nigeria's foremost rappers Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, popularly known as Vector Tha Viper is currently at war with his label, YSG Ent - recently discovered to be a division Young Shall Grow Motors company, led by Obiora Obianodo, (Pictured right) the first son of Chief Vincent Obianodo, the MD of Young Shall Grow Motors Ltd.

The disagreement between Vector and his label started a few months back after the rapper complained about his progress-rate and the label's nonchalant attitude towards his career and simply suggested more professional hands be employed to help his career, which the label took as a threat, and when they refused to heed to his suggestions, Vector hired hands he was paying personally.

He has been with the label for over four years and never asked to leave, all he asked for according to his camp was more work and results. Things actually got worse after Vector took a self-sponsored vacation to the US and returned to his record boss' anger, claiming he went to the States to sign a record deal.

Weeks after, Vector received and invitation letter from the Commissioner of Police of Lagos state and was summoned to the Area-E command (Festac). On getting there, he was presented with a "breach of contract" petition, claiming that he has engaged external hands to work for him. His parents got involved (as his dad is a retired police officer), and it was settled amicably.

Feeling unsafe and threatened, Vector surrendered the car and apartment provided for him by the label and acquired a replacement for himself. Thinking this was over, Vector went about his daily life (as lawyers were already handling the case) till the 10th of June. He was to be shooting his scene of the Ghetto RMX video by Shank, at his childhood neighbourhood (Mcarthy Barracks, Obalende, Lagos), when men of the police force came to seize him and his personal manager (Michael Umoru) and took them all the way back to Festac, this time it was a proper arrest and they were detained from 3pm till 10pm when his lawyers came through.

According to sources close to Vector, he has been receiving series of personal threats from the label, and he hasn't felt so safe and really did not want to talk to the press about it.

Just yesterday, his twitter account(@vectorYSG) with over 100,000 followers suddenly disappeared, and has been confirmed to be deactivated by his label.

Vectors manager says a new twitter handle @VECTORTHAVIPER has been activated and is now his artistes official handle, alongside the launch of his official Website www.vectorthaviper.com. As at the time of compiling this report, efforts to reach his record label has been abortive.
